a slice of sydney.

While in Sydney I took the opportunity to see the sights and soak up the best the harbour city had to offer. Beautiful weather, lots of sight seeing and lots of good food... I think I'll be back soon.

life in style.

It is always fun to visit a boutique trade event showcasing beautiful designer homewares and my recent trip to life in style in Sydney didn't disappoint. There were a few favourites which caught my eye...

Bonnie and Neil didn't disappoint with their new range for 2012 with a new colour palette and pom pom trims to look foward to.

Blacklist Studio Prints offered up vintage, quirky prints and scrolls for the walls.

I love this colour combination from Pony Rider

and Pony's rider very cute wall dots, I have a thing for kombis

One of the standouts of First in Style, which showcases emerging and up and coming designers, was Oh Mabel... made from certified organic cotton and created to bring whimsical pattern and colour back into the home, what's not to love?

Beneath The Sun was also hard to miss with a beautiful display of sunny graphic prints. A debut homewares and stationery range by illustrator and designer Leah Bartholomew, it is a little bit scandi and super cheerful.

Birthday wishlist

As it is just three days until my birthday I thought I would indulge in some wishful thinking and compile a very helpful wishlist... hint hint. I tried to limit the list to a few perpetual items which I will always love and will be happy to receive on any birthday (or any other day).

     the list

 1. For any room - A Harry Bertoia side chair. I must admit these were on the list last year but got pipped at the post by a few white DWS chairs.

 2. For the walls - An etching from the very talented Clare Whitney, I have two already but would happily welcome a third.

 3. For another wall - Shadow boxes from Bonnie and Neil. I love all their pieces but these rustic looking timber creations are my favourite.

 4. For any room in the house - Stunning but very tricky to unearth, a saucer chair which doesn't require sandblasting, power coating and hours and hours worth of restoring is something I have been searching for, for years! Where are you?  Unfortunately this lovely one from Hindsvick Etsy Shop has already been snapped up. My search continues...

 5. For the garden - A pandanus tree, the bigger the better.

Aura alert

Are you ready for chillier days?
Cusco Amethyst

Cusco Java

The lovely Luî

Victoria Amber

Cushions galore

As it is still hot and summery on the Coast, at night the doona is quickly kicked off so I can appreciate my the ceiling fan’s cyclonic force. But looking ahead to winter…. I can certainly imagine snuggling beneath a quilt cover from Aura’s new Autumn-Winter collection. Inspired by ethnic craft and bold colour combinations, my pick is the stripy Luî. For further doona delights checkout the entire range here.
